Key Stage 3

Swadelands students study a wide variety of topics at Key Stage 3. Each is designed to improve the pupils skills in Performing, Composing and Listening and Appraising.

Key stage 4

Pupils follow the edexcel syllabus which is based around three main units: Performing, Composing and Listening and Appraising.

Unit One: Performing Music (30%)

• One solo
• One ensemble

Unit Two: Composing Music (30%)

• Two compositions (or)
• Two arrangements (or)
• One composition and one arrangement

Unit Three: Listening and Appraising (40%)

• 1hr 30 minutes listening exam

        • Area of Study One – Classical Music 1600 – 1899
        • Area of Study Two – Modern Music 1900 – Present
        • Area of Study Three – Popular Music
        • Area of Study Four – World Music

• 2x JamHub devices for silent rehearsals and recording

We also have a large range of string, woodwind and brass instruments that are available to hire for a small annual fee if your child has instrumental lessons at school.

 
 

Instrumental Lessons at Swadelands School

Instrumental lessons are provided by Kent Music Service who visit the school on a weekly basis. Please visit their site for information, prices or to arrange lessons for your child.
