Welcome to the English department, where all staff are committed to raising the achievements of all students, through reading, writing, speaking and listening.

We recognise that effective teaching and learning requires an awareness of pupils’ prior attainment and that the setting of clear and purposeful learning objectives is paramount.  Pupils learn through lively, engaging and interactive teaching. All our classrooms are fitted with multimedia projectors and three classrooms have access to stand-alone computers.

The opportunities provided for pupils in the key areas – speaking and listening, reading and writing will promote pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development in addition to promoting the key skills of communication.
