What skills and jobs can I get with an Ethical and Moral, Religious Education GCSE leading to AS, A2 and degree?

What trips are available for students?

The department runs trips to Berlin and Krakow for students interested in both Full and Short Course Ethical Religious Education.

What themes and topics will students cover?

Key Stage 5

Follow an Ethical and Philosophical Course designed to encourage students to develop a range of key skills including:

  • critical thinking
  • communication
  • forming objective arguments backed up with reasons and examples

The course uses ICT to enhance delivery of lessons and motivate students by watching films, playing games, doing questionnaires and discussing ethical / philosophical arguments.

Key Stage 4

Students will study a two year course in Ethical, Moral and Religious Education under the exam board Edexcel. During this course students will study two World Religions: Christianity and Islam. Although there is no course work, students will be practising exam questions for each topic every third lessons.

Year 10

This course encourages students to study two World Religions: Christianity and Islam. The course will be divided into one lesson of Citizenship and one lesson of RE.  An example of the topics students will cover are: Citizenship ~ to explore the role of the United Nations and look at Case Studies and in RE ~ to explain the role of an organisation such as Pax Christi and identify key beliefs in Christianity for Pacifism.

Humanities (Combines the two subjects: Citizenship and Religious Education)

Key Stage 3 (Year 7 and 8)

This is an exciting two year course for students that will include Project Based Learning (PBL) on India in the first term as part of their Citizenship and RE curriculum: Citizenship: Identity and Community Cohesion in India.  RE: Sikh Transition Unit.
