Extended Schools / Year 6 Transition
We have developed a comprehensive primary to secondary transition programme to aid a smooth move for both parents and students, this consists of the following elements.
Stepping Up 2010
This was a 6 week programme running from Monday 7th June 2010 to 12th July 2010 4-5pm

Parent Coffee Mornings
These are run by student manager Marion Stacey, please contact the school for further information. It is a chance for parents to meet the school and each other and discuss and share any questions or issues they may have with transition.
Year 6 Open Morning & Tours
Visiting partner primary schools. Student managers will visit local primary schools and meet year 6 students, we have very strong links with our many feeder primary schools and many students may have already visited the school when taking part in the various primary sports festivals that we organise throughout the year.
Year 6 Intake Evening
This evening is for students who have accepted a place at Swadelands school, there will be representatives from local uniform suppliers, Carrs coaches – who run buses directly to Swadelands school. Students will find out which House they have been assigned to and have a chance to meet their new Head of House.
Year 6 Taster Day at Swadelands School
Students will meet all the other students starting in year 7 and experience a selection of subjects offered at Swadelands School.
Year 6 Student and Parent Interviews
Parents and students will meet a member of Swadelands staff and have an opportunity to ask any further questions they may have, students may show examples of school work they have completed in primary school and will be set targets for the coming academic year.
