Letter from Mr Foreman, Head of School
I would like to wish you a happy new year and briefly reflect on the final day of last term. Students enjoyed their Christmas assembly, with amazing performances from our dancers, musicians and singers. We also attended a Christmas carol service in Lenham Parish Church, engaging with the local community in such a positive way.
We start 2017 with a sense of optimism and energy in our school and we are already making excellent progress with our new term, with students and staff focused on the progress targets for this year.
I am also delighted to report that we are on schedule to convert to an academy at the end of this month. The Governing Body has made the decision that in the spirit of a fresh start we will be changing our name to The Lenham School.
Staff have already moved to a new structure which commenced from 3 January; an up to date staff list can be found on our website.
Our school uniform will not change following Academy conversion and I would like to offer my thanks for your continuing support in ensuring that students meet our very high expectations. We have received very positive feedback from the local community regarding the smart appearance of our students, and we were also complimented on their conduct when the whole school attended carol services at St Mary's Church at the end of last term.
We will be meeting year 11 parents/guardians on Thursday 19 January. This is an opportunity to discuss your child's progress towards their summer GCSE examinations. This follows a very successful advice and guidance day that we offered prior to the Christmas break. Next term will continue to be busy for our year 11 students with Pre Public Exams running from 27 February --- 10 March.
This term has seen the launch of new clubs providing a range of extra-curricular activities across the year groups. These take place both during lunchtimes and after school so there should be something for everyone to enjoy - details are on the website.
